Chocolate Butter Pecan Turtle Bars
Ingredients needed to make Chocolate Butter Pecan Turtle Bars:
Crust
2 cups all purpose flour
1 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup softened butter
1/4 tsp salt
1 cup chopped pecans
Topping:
1/2 cup butter
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup bittersweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup white chocolate chips
Preparation Instructions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Line a 9×13 pan with foil and place on rack in the center of the oven.
Crust:
In a large bowl combine flour, 1 cup brown sugar, 1/2 cup butter and
salt and mix for 2 minutes on medium speed. The mixture should have a texture like graham cracker crumbs. Press the crust into the pan, spread the pecans over the crust and set aside.
Topping:
Mix 6 tbsp butter and 1/2 cup brown sugar and heat over medium heat. Stir constantly until the mixture comes to a boil, boil for 1 minute. Pour the hot mixture over the crust.
Bake for 20 minutes, or until the crust is a golden brown. Don’t over bake, the bars will get hard. Remove the pan from the oven and immediately spread the chocolate chips over the bars, then spread the white chocolate chips on top.
Let the pan sit until the chips melt and swirl with a knife. Cool completely before cutting.
